3 years ago I was sleeping 5 hours a night. I would often wake up at 4:30 in the morning and almost immediately, my mind would be filled with worry; thoughts of work, money and events of the past. Getting back to sleep was next to impossible. Eventually my health started to deteriorate. I felt a shift in my body for the worse.
The decision to bring myself back to health became a top priority. I evaluated all those things that had a negative impact on my life and took the steps necessary to change it around. I’m not going to lie, it was a long process.
Thoughts on Health
The environment you surround yourself in is important.
1) Your Home – it should be a place that provides comfort. Surround yourself with only those things you love. If you don’t love it, get rid of it. Keep it clean and organized.
2) Your Work – it should be a place where your boss, your team and your co-workers are supportive of you. It should be a positive environment where you are constantly learning and encouraged to grow professionally.
3) Your friends and family – Mutual love, respect and support is the foundation of true friendship. Surround yourself with only those people that enrich your life.
Health problems can arise from underlying issues that tend to go far deeper than you realize. To have peace of mind is to have a restful sleep.
Thoughts on Wealth
To be truly wealthy is to have those things that money can’t buy. Love, health and happiness are priceless. Money is important but it can’t buy happiness. Money is a tool that lets you buy the things you want. What good is it if you’re a millionaire but your life is empty and your health is poor.
Follow your passion, do the things you love and the money will follow.
Thoughts on Happiness
There is no path to happiness, happiness is the path ~Buddha
I love this quote. The first time I read it, I shared it with Sean and he loved it too. Many of us believe, as I did a long time ago, that happiness is something that can be achieved. Things like once I get that promotion then I’ll be happy or once I buy that big house then I’ll be happy.
What I learned is that happiness isn’t a destination, it’s the path you choose. If you are given a choice of many options, choose the one that makes you want to jump out of bed in the morning. You are responsible for your own happiness. Do the things that make you happy to be alive.
As we start a fresh new year, I wish you all health, wealth and happiness.
